Garrison and Discord
Discord is a chat app, and a good one. Garrison holds the chat and the rest of a gamer's online life — the public feed, the library of what you've made and saved, and the store — in one account, so you're not stitching four apps together. Here's how the pieces line up.
| Garrison | Discord | |
|---|---|---|
| Text and voice channels in communities | Yes | Yes |
| Roles and permissions | Yes | Yes |
| A public feed of posts, clips and replies with your own profile page | Pulse — built in | No (external apps) |
| A personal library where your clips, screenshots and posts live and can be dropped anywhere | Vault — built in | No (external storage) |
| Buy and launch games from the same account | Store — built in | No (external launchers) |
| A card people design that shows when you click their name | Yes | Partial (profile popout) |
| Desktop, browser, mobile | Yes | Yes |
| Price | Free | Free, with paid tier |
If you only want chat, Discord does that. If you want the chat, the feed, the library and the store to be the same account and the same place, that's what Garrison is for.
